Founded in 1919 and chartered by Congress, The American Legion brings veterans together through a shared commitment to service, patriotism, and community. Its mission is to support veterans, service members, and their families; create opportunities for young people; and advocate for a strong nation that honors those who serve.

That mission comes to life through local posts like Kiltonic Post 72. From youth programs and scholarships to veteran assistance and community service, our work connects people with the support they need and gives members meaningful ways to give back. Programs such as American Legion Baseball help young people build character, practice teamwork, and develop a lasting sense of sportsmanship.

As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, The American Legion advocates for veterans’ rights, benefits, and quality of life. Its voice is strengthened by members who bring the needs of their communities to the attention of local, state, and national leaders.

At its heart, The American Legion is powered by people. Our members and volunteers carry its mission forward through their time, compassion, and dedication. At Kiltonic Post 72, we are proud to continue that tradition—serving those who have served and strengthening the community we call home.

The American Legion Family

The American Legion Family brings together veterans and their loved ones through membership, volunteerism, and a shared dedication to service.

American Legion

Eligibility: Individuals who have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941, and were honorably discharged, or who are currently serving honorably on active duty.

Meetings: Second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Post Hall.

American Legion Riders

Eligibility: Members in good standing of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion who are legally registered motorcycle owners or the spouse of a legally registered motorcycle owner.

Meetings: First Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Post Lounge.

American Legion Auxiliary

Eligibility: Spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct or adopted female descendants of American Legion members.

Meetings: Third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Post Hall, except July and August.

Sons of The American Legion

Eligibility: Males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and are or were eligible for American Legion membership.

Meetings: First Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Post Hall.
